Based on the book by Charles E. Sellier Jr., The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams is a television series that aired on NBC from March 2, 1977 to December 19, 1978. The American TV program ran for a couple of seasons with a total of 38 episodes.
The drama series is about the adventures of Grizzly Adams, played by Dan Haggerty, in the wilderness. The mountains became a refuge for Adams, who was accused of a crime he didn’t commit. In the mountains, he saved a grizzly bear cub that later became his best companion.
The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams also featured Denver Pyle, Don Shanks, John Bishop and Jack Kruschen.
In February 1982, the television film The Capture of Grizzly Adams was introduced as a conclusion to the TV series.
Thom Pace composed and performed “Maybe,” the TV series’ theme song. The song nabbed the Goldene Europa award in Germany and became number one in Europe after it was launched as a single.
